TIMONEDA D'ALFES [Wild Thyme Thymus vulgaris] NATURE RESERVE
IN CATALONIA, NORTHEAST SPAIN
Between March and May last year many of you lent your support to Proact for the campaign against the expansion plans for
an airport in the Timoneda Heathland.
It looks as though the canmpaign by the Catalan conservationists is heading towards a successful conclusion;
we can all be proud of playing our part, however small.
I quote below from a mail from one of the initiators, Arnau Barfull:
Hello David,
Some months ago there were political elections for the Catalan government, and fortunately, a left wing government will
take over for the next 4 years.
I have spoken with those responsible in one of the political parties that is in the government, and they have told me that
the new airport will not be sited in TIMONEDA D'ALFES [Wild Thyme Thymus vulgaris].
As far as I know, there will be an experts meeting in the Catalan government environment department next week to discuss
the future of the Timoneda, and to start to take decisions about the future of this nature reserve.
So, we can say that almost for sure, this site is SAVED.
I just want to thank you for all the effort and trouble that you have taken on our behalf, and whenever you come here,
you are more than welcome.
