the criminal hunters and trappers.

MANY TOURISTS WILL BOYCOTT THE KILLING FIELDS
To: Mrs Phryne Michael Director General, Cyprus Tourism Organisation Dear Director
General, As a leading figure in perhaps the most significant branch of the Cyprus Economy you must be very conscious
of the importance of the image Cyprus presents to the outside world. This is at present tarnished by the pictures
reaching European and other countries of large-scale massacre of migrant songbirds and the digusting sight of their (illegal)
consumption in Cypriot restaurants. You will be professionally aware of the increasing trend to individual 'alternative'
holidays; the attempt to find new energy in quiet and natural surroundings as compensation for the stresses of our modern
industrial and technological world. A lucrative market. Efforts are being made to provide such holidays for 'eco'
or 'soft' tourists on Cyprus; but they cannot expect the success they deserve against a background of shotgun blasts and dead
blackcaps hanging from lime sticks. We urge you to use the influence of your office to lobby for a firm line against
the criminal perpetrators. It is in the interests of your office, and Cyprus as a whole, to clear this slur from your reputation
before enjoying full membership of the European Union - where you will have difficulty in explaining such barbaric and outdated
behaviour to your foreign colleagues. [We ask you to take this letter seriously. Not all Europeans are
capable of expressing themselves perfectly in English but the content and sentiments of this letter reflect our views exactly.]
or [We ask you to take this letter seriously. Not all of us have the time to compose individual texts; but
the content and sentiments of this letter reflect our views entirely.] yours sincerely,
[Name and Address - essential!]
