FKNK 'dragging its feet' on self-regulation

The Hunters and Trappers Federation has not yet submitted an "acceptable proposal" on self-regulation to the government, the Department of Information said yesterday.

Replying to an FKNK statement, the government said that it had already stated that the federation's proposal in June did not reach the government's basic expectations.

It said that at the time the government had offered to help the FKNK come up with a proposal for a new self-regulation system on a national basis. The FKNK has not given an answer to such a proposal.

The FKNK wanted to give the impression that it was all in favour of self-regulation but in practice it was dragging its feet, the government said, renewing its appeal to the federation to put forward its suggestions.
